About Chanzo

In 2012, Chanzo started as a company in Tanzania with the purpose of providing geodata services to organisations in Tanzania. These services include database development, data collection, mapping and providing GIS training. By now, Chanzo provides services in several other countries, and also has a base in Kenya.
Chanzo in Kiswahili means “beginning”, “origin”, “source”. As this was the first company of Janneke van Dijk, the person behind Chanzo, and much of the work initially was based on mapping water sources, this seemed to be a very appropriate name for the company.
Janneke has twenty years of experience as a GIS specialist. Her quality is to structure and manage complex, or ‘vague’, issues in such a way that (directions for) solutions become more apparent. Depending on your needs and wishes, her approach can be applied at project level or to on-job (GIS) training in practice.
